Age Connects Morgannwg is the leading charity working with older people living in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil (the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board footprint). We have a strong history with over 45 years of supporting older people and their families through some of the most difficult times in their life. We are recruiting a talented Head of Finance and Business Support, who will lead a small Business Support Team to provide high quality finance, HR and governance services and support to our staff, volunteers and Trustees.


We are looking for someone with a strong financial background and experience of working in a multi-faceted role for a charity or not-for-profit organization. Alongside the senior leadership team, you will develop and implement strategies and practices that reflect our values and promote stability and sustainability. This role is pivotal to the charity’s success as a service provider, and as an employer of choice.


Job Description


The Head of Finance and Business Support will lead and develop the Business Support Team to provide high quality finance, HR and governance services and support to our staff, volunteers and Trustees. Job Summary – Main Responsibilities


Leadership and Management: Lead and develop a high quality, dynamic team of people to support and deliver the charity’s infrastructure services. Be committed to the charity’s growth through volunteering opportunities and lifelong learning. Work alongside colleagues and Board to drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organisational change, design, workforce planning, people processes and business improvement initiatives.  Support wider organisational objectives including digital transformation and progress towards net zero through your work. 


Development and Growth: Work with the CEO (Company Secretary) and Board to put in place robust, transparent and effective systems, process and practice which reflect and promote good governance. Provide leadership on the charity’s legal structure, having regard to its operational model(s) and various activities, to ensure the charity is using its resources efficiently and effectively. 


Impact and Reach: Work with the senior leadership and operational management team to identify opportunities and areas of sustainable growth in line with the Strategic Plan. Shape and develop the charity’s Workforce Development Plan, having regard to the importance of effective recruitment, the promotion of wellbeing at work and opportunities for personal growth. Contribute to the development of an income generation plan that secures sustainable income to support our work, and which maintains our strategic goal of generating 60% of income from unrestricted and independent sources.
